Chicago Cubs’ Matt Shaw will speak at Turning Point’s AmericaFest
Chicago Cubs third baseman Matt Shaw took some time off in September to attend the funeral of his friend, the late Charlie Kirk, a co-founder of Turning Point.

Shaw and Kirk connected over their shared faith in Christianity.
“My connection with Charlie was through our faith,” Shaw said, via the MLB. “That’s something that drives me every day. It’s the reason why I’m able to do what I do every day, and it’s something I’m extremely thankful for.
“I know without my faith and without the many blessings I’ve been given in my life, that I wouldn’t be here able to talk to you guys, able to help this team eventually go and win championships.”

Per Turning Point’s AmericaFest website, Shaw will be a speaker at the event in Phoenix taking place on December 18 through December 21 at the Phoenix Convention Center. The event will be in honor of Kirk, who died tragically in a shooting on Sept. 10.
“This year’s event will be unlike any other – a powerful celebration of faith, freedom, and the legacy of our founder, Charlie Kirk,” via Turning Point.
Given Shaw’s friendship with Kirk, it makes sense that the third baseman would be invited to speak at the conference headlined by Vice President JD Vance, Erika Kirk, and Tucker Carlson.
Shaw played in 126 games during his rookie season with the Cubs. He batted .226, .295, .394 with 13 home runs and 44 RBI. He scored 57 runs, helping Chicago to finish second in the NL Central and make it to the NLDS.
Shaw is expected to be a key part of the Cubs lineup for the upcoming season.
