OTL: Ravens’ Postseason Prospects Improved, but Little Margin for Error
The roller coaster continues! With a 24-0 drubbing of the Cincinnati Bengals, the Ravens are hot off the heels of what may have been their most complete game of the season.
Even still, because of their missteps throughout the season, their 2025 campaign is on a knife’s edge:
With 3 games remaining, here are the projections to win the AFC North …
Steelers: 61.9%
Ravens: 38.1%Source: ESPN Analytics

Ravens still control their playoff path.
If Baltimore wins its final 3 games — vs. Patriots, at Packers and at Steelers — Ravens capture AFC North and host a playoff game.
The Ravens’ final 3 regular season opponents are all division leaders and are a combined 28-13-1 (.678).

At this point, there’s little doubt that Baltimore’s playoff hopes are tied to the AFC North crown. While the Ravens control their own destiny and the Week 18 date with the Steelers has fans salivating, two difficult matchups against the Patriots and at the Packers come first.

Luckily, the Ravens have a refreshed Lamar Jackson:
Lamar is 15-0 in weeks 15-18.

The Steelers face Detroit this week, a matchup that could go either way, but it’s all about the Ravens controlling their own destiny. As it’s been for weeks, the team has to approach things one game at a time.
With that in mind, there are a number of positives to take away from the win last week. For starters, the aforementioned Jackson looked sharper and faster. Notably, he made an incredible check against Cincy’s blitz to generate a scoring play:
Lamar Jackson High IQ pre-snap adjustment
Pretty “quarterbacky” if you ask me. pic.twitter.com/ei80rIofEU
— Chris Cooper (@ChrisCooper_NFL) December 16, 2025
While I fully trust Jackson to get back in stride, maybe some of his improvement was the play of the O-Line. It wasn’t perfect, but it was better:
This is what I’ve wanted to see from the Ravens offensive line for quite some time: some fire and a little pride in getting the job done! pic.twitter.com/qAiPjCyihF
— Nic Mason (@British_Raven19) December 16, 2025
That improvement was evident in the run game, as well. Both Derrick Henry and Keaton Mitchell looked dangerous – especially in the 2nd half – and will look to carry their success forward into Sunday night’s matchup against New England:
This is the type of split I want to see with Henry and Mitchell. 24 carries isn’t going to be the norm. You hope it’s more like 30 or 35 if they have a lead.
But this two-headed monster has the chance to carry this offense the next 3 weeks and possibly beyond. #RavensFlock pic.twitter.com/GUvc4QLg70

With the amount of heat he’s taken this season, it’s crazy to see the numbers Henry has continued to put up despite the O-Line play. If it improves, the offense could get back to being scary:
Derrick Henry through 14 games:
233 Attempts (6th)
1,125 Yards (6th)
4.8 YPC
10 TDs (5th)
868 Yds after contact (6th)
26 runs of 10+ Yds (6th) #RavensFlock pic.twitter.com/UuFOkNnmk7
— SleeperRavens (@SleeperRavenss) December 16, 2025
And could that happen against the Patriots? Despite their winning record, New England has been susceptible to strong rushing attacks:
Patriots are leaking oil with their run defense. That to me is the game. If the #Ravens can get the ground game going, they’ll be in great shape.
With Lamar looking more and explosive, Monken also opened things up more. So now there’s a 3-way threat along with Henry & Keaton.

If Baltimore can keep things tight or play with the lead, continuing to strike the right balance between Henry and Mitchell could make things especially tough for the Pats.
But of course, the biggest positive takeaway from Sunday’s win was the defense. Up front, the Ravens were dominant, generating more pressure than I can remember them creating this season.
Even more exciting was that much of the success came from Dre’Mont Jones and Tavius Robinson, two relatively recent injections into DC Zach Orr’s unit:

Dre’Mont Jones earned an 88.7 PFF pass-rush grade against the Bengals yesterday.
– 1st time this season a Ravens edge has earned a PFF pass-rush grade above 75.0 in a game
– Best single game pass-rush grade by a Ravens edge since Kyle Van Noy in Week 4 of last season
— Gordon McGuinness (@PFF_Gordon) December 15, 2025
Ultimately, that led to inaccurate throws, turnovers, and one of the most fun plays of the season:

The Baltimore Ravens defense secured its first shutout since October 2018 with a commanding performance against the Bengals!

If the Ravens are going to win one of these two upcoming games (or, ideally, win out), the defense will have to produce more of the same. Meanwhile, the offense will need to continue its upward trajectory and find efficiencies in the red zone.
As RSR’s Cole Jackson put it, the rest of the season will tell us who they really are:
If the Ravens can run the table with some more December magic, then they’ll have earned it
If they can’t, then they’re the same inconsistent team that shouldn’t be hosting a playoff game.
I’m good with whatever outcome happens. Prove you belong.#RavensFlock
