Chicago Bulls have eyes on a top freshman in college basketball
It’s been a weird season for the Chicago Bulls so far in the 2025-26 campaign. After a hot start, they hit a rough stretch going 1-8 that dropped them below .500 in December.
But since then, they are 7-2 and right at .500 again. As it stands now, they are the No. 10 seed in the Eastern Conference and right in the play-in game which is familiar territory for them. They are also No. 14 in the draft, right at the end of the lottery and with a really good freshman class coming in, ideally you want a chance at landing one of those players.
And among them is North Carolina freshman Caleb Wilson who has been one of, if not the most impressive freshman so far.
On Saturday, Bulls brass got a look at Wilson’s game up close.

Bulls brass was one of several NBA teams in Dallas on Saturday, taking in the No. 12 Tar Heels’ matchup on the road at SMU in the ACC. The main attraction is Wilson, the former five-star who is playing as well as anyone in the country.
Wilson is averaging 19.8 points, 11.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game while shooting 55.8 percent from the field. He also leads the nation in dunks this season.

Wilson is a player that should hear his name called in the top five come the 2026 NBA draft. But with how he’s playing so far this season, his stock continues to rise.
While Wilson is the main attraction, there are other players who will be watched as well. That includes North Carolina center Henri Veesaar who transferred from Arizona. The 7-footer is averaging 16.5 points and 9.4 rebounds per game early on. He’s played well enough to be featured in the first round of some mock drafts.
On the SMU side, the main attraction is guard Boopie Miller. The Chicago native is averaging 19.9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 7.1 assists per game while shooting 47.2 percent from the field. He can really score from the field and while he could be considered as a late second-round pick or potential addition after the draft.
