NFL team trying to steal Chicago Bears coach away after loss to Rams
The Chicago Bears season came to an end on Sunday night with a 20-17 loss to the Los Angeles Rams at Soldier Field in the Divisional Round.

The Bears had numerous opportunities to score points on the Rams, but Chicago didn’t take advantage of the defense having a great night. Bears head coach Ben Johnson left points on the board by not settling for field goals and took short yardage plays out of Caleb Williams’ hands.
The Bears tried to run the ball on short downs on third and fourth down. The running game wasn’t consistent. Chicago rushed 39 times for 160 yards, 4.1 yards per rush. But they couldn’t generate enough plays on short distances to keep drives going.
Running backs coach Eric Bieniemy has been praised most of the year for getting the best out of D’Andre Swift and rookie Kyle Monangai.
Per Ian Rapoport, the Kansas City Chiefs are requesting permission to interview Bieniemy for their offensive coordinator position, should former Bears head coach Matt Nagy land another HC gig with another team.

The Bears rushed for 2,456 yards and 19 touchdowns during the regular season, third in the league behind the Baltimore Ravens and Buffalo Bills.
Bears offensive players appeared to respond to Bieniemy’s eccentric style of coaching. He’d be a big loss in the offseason if he returns to the Chiefs.
Bieniemy left the Chiefs to become the offensive coordinator with the Washington Commanders in 2023, hoping he could use that job to earn a head coaching job in the future. That didn’t work out, with Bieniemy taking an offensive coordinator gig at UCLA in 2024.
Bieniemy would be a strong fit for the Chiefs as offensive coordinator. It would certainly be a more prestigious position than running backs coach.
