Chicago Bears Could Lose Key Defender to NFC North Rival This Offseason
The 2025 NFL season has almost come to an end and the Chicago Bears are already gearing up for what they hope will be yet another successful offseason.
When the Super Bowl wraps up and a winner is declared between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks, all teams will be ready for the offseason to begin. For the Bears, this is a pivotal offseason. With the right moves, they could very well be a top-tier championship contender heading into the 2026 season.
At the beginning of the offseason, Chicago will need to figure out what to do with some of its own free agents. One of the big names to keep a close eye on will be cornerback Nahshon Wright.
After an impressive 2025 season that saw him earn Pro Bowl honors, Wright is set to become a free agent. There are quite a few teams around the NFL who could have interest in signing him. However, one of those teams is an NFC North rival.
Chicago Bears Cornerback Nahshon Wright Connected to NFC North Rival
CBS Sports analyst Zachary Pereles has taken a look at Wright’s upcoming free agency market. While he has predicted that the Bears will end up re-signing the talented defensive back, Pereles did mention the Minnesota Vikings as a potential threat to try and steal him away.
In addition to the Vikings, he also name-dropped the Los Angeles Rams and Jacksonville Jaguars as potential suitors. Wright is going to have a large market with quite a few teams interested in taking him way from Chicago.
Throughout the course of the 2025 season with the Bears, the 27-year-old cornerback played in all 17 games. He racked up 80 total tackles to go along with two forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, five interceptions, a defensive touchdown, and 11 defended passes. There is a premium on defensive playmaking in the secondary and Wright is one of the best in the business right now.
Expect to hear plenty of rumors about Wright’s future. Chicago will do everything it can to retain him, but Ryan Poles will have competition to make that happen.
Hopefully, the Bears are able to retain him long-term. Losing Wright would be tough to replace.
