Chicago Bears: Jayden Daniels appears jealous of Caleb Williams
Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams took a leap in his second season in the league under head coach Ben Johnson.

William led the Bears to an NFC North championship and appearance in the Divisional Round. Chicago’s success allowed offensive coordinator Declan Doyle to take the same gig with the Baltimore Ravens before Johnson promoted Press Taylor to OC.
The Washington Commanders made a change at offensive coordinator in the offseason. Kliff Kingsbury left to join the Los Angeles Rams, though the team is facing a complicated situation to decide if he or Nate Scheelhaase will become Mike LaFleur’s replacement at offensive tackle coordinator.
The Commanders hired David Blough as their next offensive coordinator. Blough worked with Johnson with the Detroit Lions in 2023.
During a media appearance last week, Daniels said he anticipated the Commanders would have an offensive scheme closer to what Johnson runs with Chicago, suggesting the No. 2 pick in the 2024 draft was somewhat jealous of what Williams had at play caller in 2025.

Blough told Daniels he plans to build the offense around the quarterback like Johnson did for Williams.
“According to Daniels, Blough told him, “We want to build this offense for you,” and given Johnson’s history of being able to construct new offenses whenever his personnel has changed makes starting with the quarterback — otherwise known as the focal point of an offense — who many believe to be one of the best young talents in the league today, a big bonus.”
Daniels earned the NFL’s Rookie of the Year award in 2024, well outplaying the No. 1 pick in the 2024 draft who had three offensive coordinators that season.
Daniels regressed in 2025 amid injuries. Williams struggled in the early season but became a force in the latter half of the season and playoffs.
It’ll be interesting to see if Daniels can catch up to Williams, who will be in his second season in Johnson’s offense.
Williams has the opportunity to prove the Bears made the right choice with the No. 1 pick, as New England Patriots quarterback Drake showed in the postseason he has much to master against better league defenses.
