Chicago Fire FC unveils new look at $750M downtown stadium project
The newest stadium project in Chicago doesn’t belong to the Bears or White Sox but instead the Fire. The soccer club is set to open up a new $750M project in downtown Chicago, finding a new home after years at SeatGeek Stadium and Soldier Field.
The stadium is privately funded by billionaire owner Joe Mansueto and will be a monumental moment in the franchise’s history. The Fire announced the new stadium project in Summer of 2025 and have provided updates along the way. However, the biggest update came on Wednesday morning.

On Wednesday, the Fire released four new renderings of their stadium project and it looks amazing. The stadium, which will sit in the South Loop, sits right alongside the Chicago River and also provides a nice view of the skyline. Check out some images below:

The construction on the new stadium is set for early 2026. The 78, a 62-acre site, sits along the Chicago River just south of Roosevelt Road. That puts the stadium right there in the South Loop area.
It’s set to have 22,000 seats and will be able to host not only soccer matches but the potential for other future events. The goal is for a 2028 opening barring any setbacks and will keep the franchise in the Windy City.
The Fire reached the MLS Playoffs in 2025 for the first time since 2017 and won their play-in match before losing to Philadelphia in a best-of-three. Chicago’s future is bright with the Fire and now the excitement is amped up with the new stadium.
