OTL: What’s the Offseason Priority?
As we continue to work our way through the slog of the offseason (though this year’s is a bit more interesting than usual), the Ravens media team has been busy introducing fans to the team’s newest coordinators. On Tuesday, clips of Declan Doyle’s interview on The Lounge had Charm City excited:
New Offensive Coordinator Declan Doyle talks about joining the Ravens, and shares his vision and expectations for this offense.

Needless to say, Ravens fans expect Doyle to hit the ground running, regardless of his inexperience calling plays. Doyle’s prowess as a tactician precedes him; that’s a big part of what got him the job. But whether that preparation translates to chunk plays and consistency throughout the season is the key:
“We’re hunting explosive plays.”

To do that, Doyle will obviously need a strong relationship with QB Lamar Jackson. Although he admitted that opportunities to connect with the face of the franchise have been minimal, he’s confident in their ability to work together:
Declan Doyle on dialogue with Lamar Jackson:
“It’s been limited, but I would say this: I feel a guy that is hungry to learn, hungry to grow, very excited about the opportunity to work together … as I am excited to work with him. A guy that knows his ceiling still hasn’t been… pic.twitter.com/8V1KhDvljE

And, if Doyle is truly able to take Jackson’s career to the next level, he’ll be remembered in Baltimore forever. Diante Lee of The Ringer asserts that the “next step” for Jackson isn’t any sort of individual accolade or improvement, but rather a Super Bowl ring.
The Ringer’s Diante Lee says Lamar Jackson is at a Peyton Manning–level crossroads.
“Lamar is in the same place Peyton Manning was in the mid-2000s, nothing else in his career will matter until he’s lifting the Lombardi Trophy.” pic.twitter.com/bz8C5QA0nq

I would agree.
As we well know, however, this sort of achievement is about much more than just the QB. To Lee’s point, Peyton Manning is proof of that. So as the offseason progresses, it’ll continue to be interesting to see what GM Eric DeCosta and company prioritize as Jackson’s supporting cast.
Will it be bolstering the offensive line after an offensive (pun intended) season last year? Jeff Zrebiec and others seem to think so:
The Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec mocked the Ravens taking G Vega Ioane (Penn State) at No. 14.
Baltimore then went CB Davison Igbinosun (Ohio State) in Round 2 and didn’t draft an EDGE until Round 5.

Guard aside, how does C Tyler Linderbaum fit into that equation?
I can’t get over how insane it is a 25 year old superstar center is about to hit unrestricted free agency. Tyler Linderbaum isn’t a player you see walk out the door after a rookie contract. Some team is getting an unbelievable player.
— Jake Rabadi (@JakeRabadi) February 17, 2026
If the Ravens can’t get a deal done with Tyler Linderbaum before free agency, surely you franchise tag him to give yourself time to workout an extension.
I just don’t see how letting him hit the open market is a viable option.

The window to designate franchise and transition players opens today. Below are the projected franchise tag numbers per @spotrac:
QB – $47.4M
WR – $28.0M
OL – $27.8M
LB – $27.6M
DT – $27.4M
DE – $26.7M
CB – $20.8M
S – $20.8M
TE – $16.0M
RB – $14.2M
K/P – $6.8M— NFL Researcher (@NFL_Researcher) February 17, 2026
Is the priority surrounding Jackson with the best skill position talent he’s ever had? Many hope so, as after all, the track record isn’t great:
Below is a list of the WRs that are no longer playing with Lamar. Notice how all of them are either out of the league or not starters…Lamar truly has had the bottom of the barrel to work with especially his first 5 years.
-Snead is out
-Roberts is out
-Boykin is out
-Scott is…— Ronrosco (@Ronrosco2) February 17, 2026
If the Ravens lose Isaiah Likely in free agency, USA Today lists realistic TE replacement options to watch:
• Kyle Pitts (ATL) – Just 25, coming off his best season. Would be expensive and likely spark a bidding war.
• Dallas Goedert (PHI) – Productive, proven red-zone… pic.twitter.com/B1EkvVCRTp

Stephen A. Smith names the Ravens as a potential destination for FA WR Tyreek Hill.
Hill (8x Pro Bowler, 5x All-Pro) would instantly change Lamar Jackson’s offense but he’s 32 and coming off a major knee injury.

NFL Analyst Charles Davis says there was one receiver that stood out above the rest at the Senior Bowl and he thinks he’d be a great fit in Baltimore with the Ravens: Notre Dame WR Malachi Fields #RavensFlock #NFLDraft pic.twitter.com/x9ZjTVupfC

Or, on the flip side, is it improving a defense that was shockingly poor throughout 2025? With DC Anthony Weaver bringing the energy alongside HC Jesse Minter’s scheme, many are predicting a bounce back in Baltimore:

What would be more exciting than a bona fide pass rusher or a lockdown corner to pair with the continued development of the young Ravens on this defense?

While the possibilities are endless, they all have to wait. Ultimately, none of this will be sorted until Lamar Jackson’s contract is. That’s why Yardbarker’s Eric Smithling called it one of the league’s most interesting storylines:
Yardbarker’s Eric Smithling lists Lamar Jackson’s contract as one of the NFL’s top offseason storylines.
With a $74.5M cap hit in 2026, Baltimore is expected to work on an extension to lower the number and build around him.

Something’s got to give soon.
