Chicago Bears: former CB Nashon Wright awarded over $1 million from NFL
The Chicago Bears defense was one of the best in the NFL when generating turnovers in 2025. Indeed, they led the league in interceptions, but also were among the league’s worst teams in terms of passing yards given up.
As a result, the Bears decided to overhaul both their safety and cornerback positions. While they signed safety Coby Bryant in free agency, they are still working on replacing most of their secondary.
Indeed, of the team’s 23 interceptions in 2025, over half of them came from Kevin Byard and Nahshon Wright. Both of these players have since signed with other teams in NFL free agency.
Former Chicago Bears CB Nahshon Wright gets the most performance-based distribution in the NFL
Wright signed a one-year $3.5 million contract with the New York Jets in free agency, a deal that can be worth up to $5.5 million if he hits all of the incentives.
And while that deal may seem small for a player who made the Pro Bowl in 2025, he did just get an extra $1.4 million from the NFL:

Last season, Wright had five interceptions and two forced fumbles to go with 11 passes defended and 80 tackles. Prior to 2025, he had career totals of one interceptions, five passes defended, and 37 tackles.
A big question, of course, is whether or not Wright’s 2025 season was a one-hit wonder. Based on the short and affordable contract he signed with New York, the rest of the NFL is wondering the same thing.
That being said, he is getting a nice reward from the NFL for his breakout 2025 season.
