Chicago Bears: Nahshon Wright signs with AFC bottom-dweller in 2026 NFL free agency
The Chicago Bears defense was the best in the NFL at generating turnovers last season. Indeed, they led the league in interceptions and had the best turnover differential in the NFL. However, many of the players in the secondary that generated those turnovers are not returning.
A great deal has been written about safeties Kevin Byard and Jaquan Brisker hitting free agency. However, the fact of the matter is that Nahshon Wright, who made the Pro Bowl last year, also became a free agent.
Or, at least he was a free agent. Now, he has a new home.
Chicago Bears cornerback Nahshon Wright has agreed to sign with the New York Jets
According to multiple NFL reporters and insiders, Wright has signed a one-year deal with the New York Jets:

Wright had five interceptions for Chicago last season, which is five more interceptions than the entire Jets team had. Indeed, it is easy to see why New York was interested in him given how bad their defense was last year.
Jets head coach Aaron Glenn said this off-season that, after not calling plays in his first year, he is going to take over play calling.
Wright’s contract is only worth $5.5 million for 2026, which makes him a steal for New York if he is able to repeat his Pro Bowl level of play from 2025. If he does, he will almost certainly be one of the most sought-after cornerbacks on next year’s free agent market.
