Former Chicago Bears RB lands in AFC North
The Chicago Bears entered this offseason having to fill some needs, mainly on the defense. With a lot of players not under contract as well as a cap situation that forced them to move on from Tremaine Edmunds, Ryan Poles has done what he can for the roster so far.
But with the first wave of free agency in the books, we shouldn’t expect many splash moves moving forward.
Now, the Bears will turn to the NFL Draft to find some more help for the roster. And on Monday another player left in free agency, creating a need albeit a small one.
Travis Homer signs with Pittsburgh Steelers
The Chicago Bears running back situation going into this season will be D’Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai. That was a good combination last season for the Bears with Swift having a career year and Monangai having a really good first season. But now they will have to find a backup.
On Monday, Travis Homer signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers, leaving Chicago after three seasons.

Homer was signed as a free agent in 2023, signing a two-year deal. He was re-signed last offseason, re-joining the team with a role on special teams and as a backup running back.
During his time with the Bears, Homer battled some injuries that limited his time on the field. He was more of a special teams player in terms of reps. For the Bears, bringing in another running back in the draft is now a realistic option. I wouldn’t expect a move in the first three rounds but certainly a day three option could be in the cards for the Bears.
