Knee-Jerk Reactions: Ravens, Raiders Agree to Maxx Crosby Trade

In a bit of HUGE Friday evening news, we learned that the Baltimore Ravens and Las Vegas Raiders have agreed on a trade that will send EDGE Maxx Crosby to Baltimore in exchange for 2026 and 2027 first-round picks.

ESPN sources: the Raiders agreed to trade five-time Pro-Bowl DE Maxx Crosby to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for 2026 and 2027 first-round picks.

Breath of fresh air offseason continues! I, for one, can’t believe the Ravens dealt a SINGLE first-round pick, let alone a pair of them. It truly is a new era in Baltimore.

Guess those Lamar Jackson posts really did mean something, huh?

What a move by the Ravens.  I’m in complete shock that they would trade this years first rounder, which is “high.”  They likely could have ended up with a cheap option for years to come at a position of need.

That said, this is the go-for-it move Ravens fans have wanted. For the first time in team history, they trade a first-rounder for a vet player and they trade two of them.

Maybe this is a sign they didn’t like this year’s first rounders.  Maybe it’s a sign that Harbaugh had way too much say in player personnel.  Either way, this is a huge shift in mentality.

With the news that Beeks is also working out, we can dream about a front four of Green, Beeks, Jones and Crosby…and speaking of Mike Green, he just got a lot better.

Crosby is a Ravens type guy. And now you put him in this locker room, with this defensive system?  Match made in heaven.  Losing the first-rounder this year really hurts but you can work around that and the Ravens stand to get a lot of high comp picks next year, so maybe they won’t have a first-rounder but they could have 2-4 third rounders (including Weaver who may be a head coach and this trade helps that happen too).

It’s the first time in franchise history the Ravens have traded a first-round pick for a player, and they traded TWO! My jaw is truly on the floor. These are usually the type of rumors you’ve seen the last few offseasons that never come to fruition.

The Ravens’ pass rush was not great this past season, and they needed someone at the top of the depth chart to anchor that room.

This is a move that signifies how the front office feels about the future, and it’s clearly bright.

I was at dinner with my mom and plenty of others and when my friend showed me the notification I got up out of my seat and started running around in celebration. Granted this place isn’t very formal, but a move of this level grants celebration.

Holy. Crap. What a move for the Ravens. What to even say about this move, man. The Ravens have never traded a first-round pick for a player and they gave up two for Crosby. This is a shocking move because there was no way I could have predicted this. Nobody could have.

The Ravens now have a dominant number one edge rusher, and in a daft class that isn’t very strong this is an excellent move.

I am so shocked…but a good shocked. The Ravens paid the price for an amazing edge rusher, finally.
