NFL insider puts cold water on Chicago Bears and Maxx Crosby rumors
IAs the days go by, the Maxx Crosby rumors continue to heat up. The NFL is set to begin the new league year next Wednesday and so far, there hasn’t been a lot of movement on the Raiders’ front in terms of a deal for Crosby.
The one consistent in all of this is that the Raiders’ ideal compensation is reported to be two first-round picks. With the Chicago Bears and now the Dallas Cowboys showing interest, neither team has matched that just yet. I’m not so sure anyone will.
If that happens, it becomes a game of what team can offer the most outside of the two first-round picks. Now, with the Bears moving on from DJ Moore and acquiring a second-round pick plus opening up some cap space, Chicago feels like they are still in it. However, an NFL insider poured some cold water on that on Thursday.
Adam Schefter doesn’t think Chicago Bears will get it done for Maxx Crosby
While appearing on “The Pat McAfee Show” on Thursday, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter once again discussed the Max Crosby trade rumors. This time he did so during a segment as Moore was traded.
When asked about the possibility of getting Crosby after the Moore trade, here is what Schefter had to say:
“I think they have checked in on Maxx Crosby,” Schefter said. “I don’t think they will be able to get it done in the end; I think there have been a whole bunch of teams in on Maxx Crosby. It feels like one of those situations where it’s quiet now, the volcano is simmering and we are just waiting to see whether that volcano epruts here in the coming days and the Raiders decide to move on from Maxx Crosby.”
Schefter went on to say that the Bears, Cowboys and Bills have all checked in on Crosby. But he believes this deal now lessens the chances for the Bills to get a deal done.
For Chicago, it’s clear they have that big need for a pass rusher. But with the Raiders not coming off that asking price, it feels like Chicago could be looking in another direction.
