OTL: Will Ravens, Jackson, Get Extension Done?
Another happy Monday to you, Flock! The calendar has flipped over to March, which means we aren’t far from the official start of the 2026 NFL League Year (March 11).
On Friday afternoon, we got word that the salary cap for 2026 will be $301.2M. That’s a couple million less than our cap guru, Brian McFarland, had been expecting.
Ok, so here is where the Ravens stand w/ a $301.2M Cap.
Words of caution – this is b4 ERFAs/RFAs are factored in & before ‘25 Cap adjustments are added, so that number is going to go down. Then will go up w/ cuts/restructure/ext’s. So, still a ways to go b4 Wed, 3/11 @ 4:00. https://t.co/0Ok6BjfeQO pic.twitter.com/etEBmr4NWZ

In case you missed it, Brian, TL, and Dev put out their huge annual Ravens free agency primer on Friday, which you can read here:
As they do every year, they analyzed every pending Ravens free agent, with Brian giving his view from a cap perspective, Dev analyzing the player’s abilities and scheme fit, and Tony synthesizing the work of the other two to give his take on whether the player stays or goes. Don’t miss it!
Two of the guys discussed have contracts voiding today.
The contracts of WR DeAndre Hopkins and WR Tylan Wallace are set to void today, leaving behind $3,740,000 of dead cap to the #Ravens.
Baltimore boasts about $20M of Top 51 cap space heading toward the new year.

In the FA piece, TL said he would sign up for “a D-Hop do-over” but that anything more than a vet minimum deal for Wallace would be an overspend. We could always hear about a Hopkins deal later today to avoid those void years, but it seems increasingly unlikely at this point.
The NFL Combine has now come and gone, and those of you who are into that sort of thing had a great weekend watching NFL hopefuls run around in shorts. Cole put out several videos over the weekend, so fans who missed the action or who just want a summary should head over to his channel. Here’s his thoughts on yesterday’s offensive line workouts, which are obviously of particular interest to the Flock.
In other non-news…
So……… Lamar Extension?
— Yuri (@Yuri_Ravens) March 2, 2026
That would certainly be nice, wouldn’t it, Yuri? We’ve heard nothing, but there’s still some room for optimism considering how quiet the Baltimore front office and Lamar himself like to keep things.
Brian was on Glenn Clark’s show the other day breaking down the options:
Our friend Brian McFarland (@RavensSalaryCap) of @RussellStReport joined us earlier to break down Lamar Jackson’s contract and what a restructured deal could look like and how it would affect the Ravens current cap situation #RavensFlock pic.twitter.com/2xK9gXCutL

What do you think? Do we get a Lamar extension soon, or are the Ravens instead forced to restructure his deal to create cap space (which they do NOT need his permission to do)?
