Offensive Line Highlights Ravens’ List of Pre-Draft Needs
With the 2026 NFL Draft just over three weeks away, the Baltimore Ravens roster as it stands today will largely remain unchanged prior to draft weekend.
That gives us a chance to take a look at the roster and where it still needs to be improved. With 11 draft picks and plenty of work still to do on the roster construction, the draft will surely allow the Ravens to fill in spots as needed. Even if Eric DeCosta sticks to the “best player available” philosophy along the way, by nature of having 11 picks, several needs will be addressed.
For position needs not addressed during the draft, the post-draft free agency circuit (when compensatory picks no longer factor into the equation) will give the Ravens another chance to patch up some spots.
Let’s look at Baltimore’s five biggest needs heading into the NFL Draft.
1. Center
This is the one major position where the Ravens don’t truly have a starter on the roster today. Third-year player Corey Bullock will likely rightfully earn a chance to compete for the job, but realistically the Week 1 starter at the position is not on the team yet.
2. Guard
Bringing back John Simpson in free agency for a rather significant amount guarantees he will be starting at one of the guard positions. That leaves second-year lineman Emery Jones Jr. and Andrew Voorhees battling for the second opening. It is not impossible one of those two takes control of the opening and wins the starting job; however, the Ravens would be better-served improving the depth at guard during the draft to provide themselves with more options.
3. Tight End
Free agent addition Durham Smythe will settle in as the third tight end as the blocking-focused replacement for Charlie Kolar. But the opening created by Isaiah Likely’s departure creates a major need for a pass-catching tight end. Free agent David Njoku could be an option for this spot, or one of the 11 draft picks could be used to find a dynamic second option behind Mark Andrews.
4. Wide Receiver
Another year, another offseason article highlighting the need for the Ravens to improve the wide receiver room. The Ravens have a top three group of Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, and Devontez Walker, which is serviceable but not likely ideal in the mind of new offensive coordinator Declan Doyle. Second-year player LaJohntay Wester is primarily a return man, so the Ravens realistically have no depth behind the current top three. This room would benefit from multiple additions through both the draft and post-draft free agency.
5. Pass Rusher
Adding Trey Hendrickson will hopefully turn out to be the defense-changing move the Ravens need when it comes to getting after quarterbacks. But the reality is the depth is still severely lacking in the room. Hendrickson, Mike Green, and Tavius Robinson create a promising trio, but after that group the next best option is Adisa Isaac, a player with nearly zero playing experience through two NFL seasons. At least one more solid option on the edge is needed prior to the season.
Honorable Mention: Punter
The Ravens technically don’t have a punter, other than a recently added option off the street to fill in for now during offseason work. While it isn’t a glaring need, since it won’t move the needle for the team like the positions mentioned above, we will acknowledge it here. DeCosta has not shied away from drafting special teams players on day three of the draft, so it would not be surprising if one of the eight day-three picks is used to address the position after Jordan Stout’s departure in free agency.
