Ravens New Uniforms Are on The Way!

What Should The New Uniforms Look Like?

With today’s announcement of a new Ravens uniform incoming for the 2026 season, fan speculation is all over the place, from throwbacks to modern era jerseys, to ‘make it look like a Phil Knight special for the Oregon Ducks!’

To be clear: I have no idea what’s to come. I have no insider sources. In fact, it’ll probably be the total opposite of what I hope to see.

Alas, here’s my thoughts on the fresh new look to come.

Emphasis on Fresh & New

What I don’t want to see is throwbacks. For some teams it can work, but for the Ravens it can’t. Last we heard, one Frederick Bouchat is still holding the copyright on the original logo and was not working with the Ravens or NFL to grant them usage beyond ‘Fair Use’ in historical context of film, photos, etc.

There’s been some recent question on this logo as it’s surfaced in the most recent Madden game, but there’s no record of the Ravens gaining newfound access.

Instead, the Ravens need to look forward, not backwards. Move on from a logo they can’t touch, goofy looking bubble numbers, and a wide stripe on the pants.

Embrace Darkness

The Ravens name is derived from Edgar Allan Poe, and rightfully so, there’s a lot of emphasis on that dark and macabre energy that is Poe-esque.

These new uniforms need to further embrace darkness. Embrace Poe.

“And the silken, sad, uncertain rustling of each purple curtain

Thrilled me- filled me with fantastic terrors never felt before.”

And later in the next stanza:

“Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing

Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before.”

More purple and black. Less white and bright.

Have the official announcement reading The Raven by Poe with the steady heartbeat of Lenore in the background, camera cruising through the graveyard of old logos and uniform combos with associated clips and showing their ‘graves’ as the Ravens move forward. At the end simply show the word “NEVERMORE” then cross out NEVER, replace it with BALTI for BALTIMORE.

New uniforms revealed.

Call me, Ravens marketing team. I gotchu.

Representative Font & Logo

Sticking to the ‘embrace darkness’ theme, let’s go 1800’s graveyard on the new font with a little Old Victorian aspect to it.

In my greatest attempt to gaslight, I also say we move on from the shield now. It simply doesn’t fit the darkness of the Ravens, and we’re not a medieval franchise. Pick a theme and stick it.

Keep the Maryland Flag but find a new means to incorporate it that fits better with the energy.

Most teams use traditional nameplate block lettering, but the Ravens could go more like the Eagles style to give it a little facelift. Not many options here.

As for the numbers on jerseys, I say remove the shadow layer and keep it more simplistic white or even gold. Purple jersey trim the number in black. Black jersey trim the number in purple.

As for the main helmet logo, I can’t imagine major changes. I prefer the head-on Raven over the profile, but in either version, maybe make the eyes more daunting and less cartoony, narrow the outside bands, throw more grey and less white in it (I’d love to see a headstone-grey alternative jersey).

Focused Marketing & Branding

If the goal is to refocus the uniforms to match the concept of The Raven by Poe, then all marketing and branding needs to match that energy. Turn The Bank into The Graveyard where opponents’ dreams go to die. After a win, have the Jumbotron play a Raven cruising through the graveyard and landing on a headstone of their opponent. Play the heartbeat thumping loudly on 3rd downs for the defense.

All. In.

Or… we’ll just get minor tweaks and a huge statement made over one extra pant stripe, one less sleeve stripe and a change in the neckline. Who knows.
