Sophie Cunningham reveals dream guest for Indiana Fever game
Sophie Cunningham’s previous contract ended at the conclusion of last season. Many wondered if she would return to the Indiana Fever or sign with another team.
Free agency opened, and she remained unsigned. However, the team announced on April 12 that the star guard re-signed on a one-year deal, ending the speculations.
Cunningham played only 30 games last season due to a right knee injury. She averaged 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 1.0 steals in 25.2 minutes per game. However, her impact was beyond what the stat sheets showed. The 29-year-old showcased her grit night in and night out and embraced the enforcer role for her team.

She also became one of the most popular players in the WNBA last season. Fans around the league couldn’t get enough of her, whether on the court or on social media. Cunningham became more visible by launching her podcast and endorsing different brands.
The Missouri Tigers product revealed photos on April 20 from her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit debut.
WNBA: Sophie Cunningham wants comedian to watch the Indiana Fever live
Cunningham took part in the Fever’s “The Puppy Room” interview on Monday. She was asked a variety of questions, including who her dream guest was at an Indiana game.
“Definitely Will Ferrell,” Cunningham said. “I think he is so my vibe, and he’s at a Lakers game last night, so he needs to come to a Fever game.”
The 6-foot-1 guard was also asked which show or movie she’d love to guest-star in.
“I think I would like to do, you know, like, ‘Stepbrothers’ was like a thing,” Cunningham said. “I think they need to do a ‘Stepsisters’ and I would be the Will Ferrell.”
Ferrell, a well-known comedian, has starred in a wide collection of movies. Fans widely consider “Elf” and “Stepbrothers” as a couple of his most popular films.
It remains to be seen if Ferrell will accept Cunningham’s open invitation. However, with the league and the Fever’s popularity continuing to rise, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him courtside this coming season.
