2 Chicago Bears legends could be next to make the Pro Football Hall of Fame
The Chicago Bears have had a lot of extremely talented players go through the franchise. Legends, elite talents, and Pro Football Hall of Famers have spent time with the franchise. At current count, there are 32 players in franchise history in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the most in the NFL. But which players could be the next to make it from Chicago? Let’s take a look at who could be in the conversation.
2 Chicago Bears legends could be next to be enshrined in Canton

NFL’s Eric Edholm wrote an article discussing each NFL team’s next best Hall of Fame candidate. For the Bears, he actually chose a pair of teammates in linebacker Lance Briggs and cornerback Charles ‘Peanut’ Tillman. Below is what he wrote regarding why he chose the two players:
“I think at least one more member of the Lovie Smith 2000’s Bears defense will get in after Brian Urlacher made it in 2018, and it’s possible that Olin Kreutz joins them from the offensive side one day. All three were among 128 HOF candidates a year ago, but none were named semifinalists. Briggs might have a slightly stronger resume on paper than Tillman, and he’s been eligible one more year than Tillman, but don’t overlook the power of the Peanut Punch. Tillman dislodged a stunning 44 fumbles in his career, and his trademark punchout is still refernced regularly in media and by fans. That reputation, which seemingly has only increased since retirement, could be enough to push Tillman through. Virginia McCaskey, the Second City’s first lady for many decades, is a sleeper candidate to beat them into the Hall, but there is only one contributor finalist per cycle, making it tougher to forecast exactly when the late Bears matriarch and daughter of George Halas will make it.”
Both Briggs and Tillman were with the Bears from 2003-14; however, Tillman would play for the Carolina Panthers for one season before retiring. Tillman and Briggs were significant pieces of Chicago’s back seven and were some of the top defenders in the league for years. Both men have been eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame and have intriguing cases. It will be interesting to see if either will be enshrined in the next few years after more than a decade with the Bears.
