Chicago White Sox: Munetaka Murakami predicted to be an All-Star, but could be joined by at least 3 others
The Chicago White Sox were not predicted to be very good in 2026. After three straight seasons in which they lost 100+ games, there was little hope that there would be many improvements this year.
However, they are currently 17-18 in the woeful American League Central Division. With the division leaders 18-18, the White Sox are only 0.5 games out of first place.
Of course, the biggest story out of Chicago this year has been rookie slugger Munetaka Murakami, who is currently tied for the Major League-lead in home runs with 14. Not surprisingly, Bleacher Report predicted that he will be named an All-Star this year. However, he may not be the only who gets that honor.
The Chicago White Sox currently have multiple players worthy of an All-Star nod
Murakami is currently hitting .240/.377/.564 with 14 home runs and 28 RBI. His early season production has made him an easy All-Star prediction.
However, given how well the White Sox have been playing as of late, there are three other players who could nab a spot on the roster.
Colson Montgomery
Second-year shortstop Colson Montgomery has a 1.4 WAR so far this year, which matches Murakami’s for the highest among Chicago position players. It is also the second-highest WAR among American League shorstops, only behind Kansas City Royals star Bobby Witt Jr.
Currently, Montgomery is hitting .226/.338/.484 with nine home runs and 23 RBI.
Bryan Hudson
Last year, Bryan Hudson had a 5.79 ERA in four games with the White Sox after the Milwaukee Brewers gave up on him. When Chicago brought him back this year, many fans did not think they were serious about improving their bullpen.
After going through the whole month of April without allowing an earned run, Hudson is sporting a 1.13 ERA in 17 appearances. He is not the closer, so his chances of making the All-Star roster are slim. However, MLB tries to add at least one middle reliever every year, and Hudson is among the best so far.
Davis Martin
In 51 career games heading into 2026, Davis Martin was 10-21 with a 4.32 ERA. Through seven starts this year, he is 5-1 with a sparkling 1.64 ERA. His five wins lead the American League, and he has emerged as the best pitcher on what has turned out to be a pretty good White Sox pitching staff.
