Former Chicago Bears player meets with NFC East team
When the Chicago Bears won the NFC North in 2018, they did so on the backs of one of the best defenses in the NFL. Vic Fangio’s unit dominated games, using a good pass rush, a good middle of the defense in their linebackers and a secondary that was making plays and forcing turnovers.
While the attention was on names like Khalil Mack, Eddie Jackson and Roquan Smith, it was nose tackle Eddie Goldman that was doing the dirty work as an unsung hero as well. Goldman was drafted 39th overall by the Bears out of Florida State in the 2015 NFL Draft. He developed into one of the better defensive tackles in the league and was a key piece to that defense.
Goldman even earned a spot on the PFWA All-Rookie team in 2015. While he spent six seasons with the Bears, he was there seven years total due to opting out in 2020 because of Covid-19. Now, he’s looking for a new home here in 2026 as the offseason rolls on.
Eddie Goldman meets with New York Giants

Despite success with the Bears, the end of Goldman’s career got rocky. He did miss that 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While he played 2021 with the Bears, he decided to retire in 2022 before returning in 2024 with the Atlanta Falcons.
Now, fresh off a year with the Washington Commanders, Goldman has another workout, this time with the New York Giants:

Goldman started five games for the Commanders last season. He recorded just 10 tackles in limited playing time. Now, you have to wonder how much the 32-year-old has left in the tank.
With the Giants having a young core, bringing in a veteran like Goldman could provide some experience to that line. But as of now, the Giants haven’t made a signing after the workout.
