Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham

It’s all systems go for the start of the Indiana Fever’s 2026 regular season. Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham are raring to bounce back after injuries shortened their campaigns last year.

The 2024 Rookie of the Year played only 13 games as she dealt with multiple soft tissue injuries. Cunningham, on the other hand, suffered a season-ending knee injury and only appeared in 30 matchups. The Fever still made the playoffs and reached the second round, but the Las Vegas Aces eliminated them.

The backcourt duo played in all three preseason games. While coaches monitored their minutes, they showed that they are back to 100% and ready to lead Indiana to a deep playoff run or a championship.

Indiana Fever: Fans react to Sophie Cunningham’s shorts on Instagram

The Fever posted a video on Instagram on Tuesday. Clark and Cunningham started it by inviting fans to show up and support the team in its season opener at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. They ended with a chest bump before it transitioned to their teammates’ message.

However, what caught fans’ attention was the 6-foot-1 shooting guard’s shorts, as she wore them halfway down. Fans dropped their reactions in the comments section.

“What happened to your pants, Sophie Cunningham 😂😂,” a fan said.

“Are we going to ignore Sophie Cunningham losing her pants? 😂,” one comment read.

“Sophie your shorts 😂 go Fever 🔥🏀⛹🏻‍♀️,” a user wrote.

“Y her pants down,” another posted.

“Sophie 😂 What’s up with your shorts?” a reaction read.

“It’s Sophie’s shorts for me 😂😂😂,” another fan commented.

Indiana will face the Dallas Wings on Saturday. The franchise bolstered its roster in the offseason by adding veterans Monique Billings, Tyasha Harris and Myisha Hines-Allen. It also selected Raven Johnson at No. 10 in the draft.

The coaching staff expects them to play key roles and back up Cunningham, Clark, Aliyah Boston, Lexie Hull and Kelsey Mitchell.
