WNBA: Angel Reese-Hailey Van Lith reunion rumor emerges after Chicago Sky decision
A reunion rumor involving Angel Reese and Hailey Van Lith emerged after recent Chicago Sky roster moves. The Sky’s roster plans changed rapidly this offseason.
The Sky waived Van Lith to clear roster space for veteran guard Natasha Cloud, who signed with Chicago on Monday. In April, the Sky traded Reese to the Atlanta Dream. These decisions ended Reese’s and Van Lith’s brief professional run in Chicago.
Reese and Van Lith previously played a single season together with the LSU Tigers during the 2023–24 campaign. Together, they helped the Tigers reach the Elite Eight that season.
The Sky selected Reese seventh overall in the 2024 WNBA Draft and picked Van Lith No. 11 overall in 2025. However, even with these two former LSU standouts, Chicago struggled significantly last season. The team finished tied last in the league at 10–34 and missed the playoffs.

After the Sky officially parted ways with Van Lith, a rumor emerged on Instagram suggesting that the Atlanta Dream may pursue her.

The speculation drew mixed reactions from WNBA fans.

“Maybe on a Developmental contract,” a supporter wrote.
“Yes she can shoot,” another commented.
“That would not be a smart pickup by my Dream,” a user posted.
“Yes. They will win the WNBA championship,” another fan said.
An Atlanta signing would mean Van Lith and Reese would team up for a third time. However, as of this writing, neither the Dream nor Van Lith has confirmed anything, so the potential reunion remains speculation.
