Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham receives good news on stalker saga

Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham

Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham has become a household name among WNBA fans. Her rise to fame coincides with her move to Indiana ahead of the 2025 season. After teaming up with Caitlin Clark, Cunningham’s popularity increased significantly.

This opened a lot of opportunities for the veteran outside the WNBA, which include endorsement deals, her own podcast and a broadcasting deal with USA Network.

Cunningham’s fame also comes with a price. The veteran learned this the hard way after she recently went through a traumatic experience.

Kevin Singh, a 48-year-old man from Indiana, was arrested on Tuesday for stalking and harassing the Fever star. He reportedly sent sexually explicit and threatening direct messages to Cunningham via the social media platform X. This forced her to stay at home more out of fear, which eventually led to nightmares.

This is not Sing’s first case of intimidation, stalking and invasion of privacy.

Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham gets update on stalker

Singh’s initial hearing was on Thursday in Marion County. On Friday, Cunningham received a positive update on the case.

According to a report by WIBC News’ Ryan Hedrick, the court set a $40,000 cash bond on Singh’s case after a seven-day hold request. He also has a second no-bond hold in Hendricks County, which means that he will not be released unless that is cleared as well.

Singh reportedly told the court that he cannot afford to pay the bond. As such, he will remain in jail as the trial progresses.

This should bring a significant sense of relief for Cunningham. Knowing that her stalker remains behind bars will allow her to live her life in a relatively normal manner. It’s good news, but there’s no denying that the trauma from this untoward incident won’t go away easily.

As for her basketball, Cunningham will be back on the court on Saturday. The Fever will host the Los Angeles Sparks at Gainbridge Fieldhouse as they look to bounce back from Wednesday’s 111-109 loss to the Phoenix Mercury.
