Chicago Cubs insider apologizes to executives, per report
A Chicago Sun-Times report by Jeff Agrest says that Marquee and The Score insider Bruce Levine has apologized to Chicago Cubs president Jed Hoyer and general manager Carter Hawkins after an odd incident on Twitter (X) Monday night. The incident involved Levine accidentally posting publicly on Twitter (X) what was supposed to be a private message to a Cubs coach. Levine’s message involved referring to Hoyer and Hawkins as “Twinkle Dee” and “Twinkle Dum” (meaning “Tweedle Dee” and “Tweedle Dum”).
The post was up for a while before the mistake was realized, and the post was taken down.
Per the Agrest report, Hoyer and Hawkins accepted the apology and are moving on. While nothing seems to be coming of this, fans still wonder what the future will be like regarding the team and the executive’s relationship with Levine.

Levine apologized quickly to them, seeing as the report came out less than 24 hours after the post appeared on Twitter (X). He’s one of the primary Cubs beats and is front and center during most media sessions with the team. This had to be dealt with quickly.
It has to be hard for Hoyer and Hawkins to think about one of the veteran reporters who has done his job diligently for a long time, saying those kinds of things about them to Cubs personnel. What other conversations have been had between him and members of the organization about them? In the end, it will never be known to the public.
Fans might be frustrated at times with Hoyer and Hawkins on certain things. One might not be sympathetic towards them, but regardless, it’s still crazy to think about this whole thing. All members involved are established professionals, and they seem to be handling it as well as they should be.
When it’s all said and done, this could be a story that just blows away quickly. At least that is the hope.
