Unexpected Sophie Cunningham news had Fever fans worried

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham

Sophie Cunningham and the Indiana Fever were in action on Wednesday night against the Los Angeles Sparks. The 6-foot-1 guard came off the bench and played 11 minutes in what turned out to be a blowout. Cunningham was quiet, finishing with two points on 1-of-4 shooting, one rebound, an assist and one steal.

The Fever did not play well at all. They struggled to keep up with the Sparks, who ultimately dominated at home. Indiana will need to chalk this one up quickly after losing 106-92.

Cunningham drew a lot of attention very early in the game. This came after the Fever announced unexpected news about the 29-year-old. Cunningham suffered an injury during warm-ups, casting doubt on her status for the game.

Sophie Cunningham suffers injury scare before Fever game

The Fever took to social media to announce that Cunningham was questionable to play due to back spasms. The good news is that she was able to shake it off and checked in at the 3:09 mark of the first quarter.

Nevertheless, the sudden turn of events left Fever fans worried.

“Oh don’t do this to meeeeeee. Sophie was my only hope and joy for the Phx game,” a comment on X read.

“Just cant catch a break wtf,” another said.

“Not a good look for her as visible as she was the last 2 days,” a user pointed out.

“The f*** is happening in Indianapolis 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭tired of dc s*** man,” a reaction read.

“This is tiring. 😔” said another.

Suspicious. White playing games again?” a fan asked.

It is unclear whether the back issue hampered Cunningham’s performance on the evening. Moreover, the Fever have not confirmed her status for their next game, at least as of this writing.

Indiana plays twice in two nights. They return to action on Thursday for a road matchup against the Phoenix Mercury.

While Cunningham’s status remains unclear, Caitlin Clark has already been ruled out as part of her recovery from a back injury. Aliyah Boston, who sat out on Wednesday with a leg injury, will return against Phoenix.
