A child murdering his parents is a very uncommon crime. It takes a lot of resentment, a lot of anger, and a lot of hate to get to that point.

Perhaps the most famous case of a child murdering their parents was Lyle and Erik Menendez shotgunning their parents in 1989. The boys claimed their father had sexually abused them since they were toddlers.  I’m wondering – and this is pure speculation on my part – if maybe something similar is behind the murder of Rob Reiner and his wife.

At a Comedy Central roast in 2000 in which Rob Reiner was the guest of honor, Al Franken – the same Al Franken who claimed he received advance notice of the attacks on 9/11, but then didn’t warn anybody – made some crude and very revealing “jokes” about Reiner being sodomized by his father when he was a young boy. 


Franken said, “On a typical night, Carl [Reiner] would slip into Rob’s bed, roll him over, swab him down and say something like, ‘I’m thinking about hiring Morey Amsterdam to play Buddy Sorrell, what do you think?’” Franken said as Reiner blurted out, “Oh, Jesus.”

“Well, the success of The Dick Van Dyke Show changed things dramatically, Carl started inviting many of his famous friends to fuck his son,” Franken continued. “That list includes some of the greats in comedy: Paul Lynde, Dom DeLuise, Rip Taylor, Danny Kaye, Charles Nelson Reilly and Rock Hudson – whom, I frankly don’t think is that funny.“

“Thank you for doing so much to make sure another kid doesn’t end up like you,” Franken snarked.

The first thing that jumps out to me about this is why is Franken making these sick jokes in the first place? Even more bizarre, why is Reiner laughing? I wouldn’t laugh if someone made a joke like that about my father. Would you laugh if someone joked about you being raped by your father?

Finally, why is the audience laughing? Franken’s jokes are not funny. Do they make you want to laugh? It seems the audience is laughing uneasily out of recognition, not out of humor.

Is it possible that Reiner’s son, Nick Reiner, who has been arrested and charged with the murder of his parents, was raped as a child?

Perhaps that sounds crazy, but when it comes to Hollywood elites, I’ve learned not to take anything for granted. A quick study of the private lives of Tom Hanks, Ron Howard, Steven Spielberg, George Clooney and others shows that the most famous and most loved people on earth are capable of anything. (If you really want to go down the rabbit hole, read the books by Cathy O’Brien and Brice Taylor. You’ll never look at your favorite celeb in the same way again.)

Back to Nick Reiner and his father’s murder. Anal rape is certainly something that could drive a child to murder his father. Is it possible that something like this took place when Nick was a young boy?

Again, this is speculation on my part, but I wouldn’t be surprised if something like this did occur. Of course, if it did, we’ll never know the truth.
