The Enemy Didn’t Break Into Your Church… He Was Invited
Jude’s Indictment of a Church That Refuses to Fight
Most churches don’t fall because someone kicked the doors in and hauled the pulpit away. They fall because no one noticed when the locks were quietly removed from the inside.
One small compromise here. One softened doctrine there. One “let’s not make a big deal out of it” decision at a time. And before anyone realizes what’s happened, the faith that once demanded obedience and faithfulness now only asks for agreement.
Jude saw that pattern forming in the first century… and he didn’t write to soothe it, manage it, or dialogue with it. He wrote to stop it. What follows isn’t a warning about outsiders attacking the Church. It’s a confrontation with the far more dangerous truth: the Church is most vulnerable when it stops guarding what it has already been given.
Let’s Be Clear About Where the Real Threat Is Coming From

And yep, let’s stop treating this like a sensitive question that needs emotional padding.
Are there enemies in the Church?
It’s not criticism from the outside. It’s not unbelievers. It’s not the culture raging beyond the walls. Jude is talking about enemies inside the Church… teaching, leading, shaping doctrine, and calling it progress. And Jude does not apologize for saying so. He does not lower his voice. He does not soften the warning to preserve feelings.
Because the most dangerous enemy does not oppose Christianity openly.
He rebrands it. Sometimes mildly at first.
Jude Didn’t Plan This Letter… and That’s the First Warning
Jude tells us plainly that this letter was not his original intention. He wanted to write about their “common salvation”— something affirming, reassuring, unifying. Instead, he says it was “needful” to stop everything and issue a warning. That word matters. Jude isn’t reacting emotionally. He’s responding to peak necessity.
Something had already gone wrong.
The Church wasn’t drifting. It wasn’t merely confused. It was already compromised. Jude does not describe this as a misunderstanding between sincere believers. He treats it as an attack on the faith itself. That framing alone shatters the modern assumption that all doctrinal conflict is just “difference of perspective.”
Some differences are treason. Many are heresy.
“They Crept In”: Quiet Invasion, Not Honest Disagreement
Jude’s most devastating phrase is also one of his shortest: “Certain men crept in unawares.” They didn’t knock. They didn’t announce a new religion. They didn’t openly reject Christ.
They crept. Like a post that just somehow “shows up” on your social media feed.
They blended in, learned the language, adopted the aesthetics, and gained trust… while quietly undermining the very faith they claimed to serve. This was not ignorance or immaturity. Jude does not grant them the benefit of the doubt. He calls it infiltration.
This isn’t confusion.
This is a strategy.
Important: False teachers almost never arrive waving red flags. They arrive quoting Scripture… selectively. They talk about grace… selectively. They speak of love while quietly detaching it from obedience.
And Jude says God saw them coming long before the Church did.
Grace Weaponized Against God
Jude identifies the central tactic without hesitation: these men “turn the grace of our God into lasciviousness.” Grace… God’s mercy toward sinners… is twisted into permission for overt sinfulness. Forgiveness becomes a loophole. Mercy becomes insulation from consequences. Love becomes a shield against accountability.
This is not theological nuance.
It is moral sabotage.
Any teaching that uses grace to excuse ongoing sin and open rebellion is not Christian teaching. It is a counterfeit gospel designed to make sin feel safe and obedience feel optional. And it flourishes wherever holiness is treated as embarrassing and discipline as unloving.
The modern Church has not merely tolerated this distortion.
It has normalized it.
The Faith Was Delivered—Not Upgraded
Jude’s command is blunt: “Earnestly contend for the faith once delivered to the saints.” The word once is fatal to every version of progressive Christianity. The faith was delivered… complete, finished, settled. Not awaiting cultural approval. Not open to revision. Not evolving alongside autonomous human reason and in the moment sensibilities.
There is no Gospel 2.0.
No enlightened update.
No moral software reboot.
The Church does not own the faith. It’s charged with guarding it. The moment doctrine becomes flexible, it has already been surrendered.
Gnosticism: The Blueprint for Every Church Corruption
The heresy Jude confronted was Gnosticism… an obsession with secret knowledge, spiritual elitism, and insight beyond Scripture. Gnostics did not reject Christianity outright. They improved it. That was the danger.
They redefined Christ.
They minimized sin.
They relativized truth.
They claimed Scripture was fine… for simple people. But the enlightened needed more.
That pattern has never disappeared.
It simply learned new vocabulary.
Modern Apostasy With Better Branding
Today, the same wolves wear cleaner clothes. They speak the language of psychology, sociology, and activism. The new narrative baptizes secular ideologies and then calls resistance “unloving.” It talks endlessly about compassion while quietly dismantling biblical authority, moral clarity, and divine judgment.
It calls itself “progressive.”
Jude would call it what it is: rebellion with credentials.
The claim is always the same… we know better now. The posture is always the same… God must answer to us. And the result is always the same: truth reduced to preference.
Relevance Is the Idol That Devours Truth
Every corrupt movement in the Church worships relevance. “We need to adapt.” “We need to stay credible.” “We need to keep people.”
No. You don’t.
The Church is not called to be hip. It is called to be faithful. Relevance always demands a sacrifice… and the sacrifice is truth. The Gospel does not negotiate with culture. It confronts it. And confrontation is precisely what relevance seeks to avoid.
A Church that fears offense more than God has already chosen its master.
Charisma Is Not Authority… and Never Has Been
Jude is not naïve about how deception spreads. False teachers are often polished with polemics, educated, articulate, and confident. Ancient Gnostics buried error under complexity. Modern teachers bury it under nuance.
Confusion is sold as depth.
Disobedience is sold as authenticity.
Contradiction is sold as tension.
People follow them not because they are right, but because they are polemically persuasive. Charisma gathers crowds. Truth divides them. Jude does not apologize for that division.
He sides with truth.
History Is the Prosecution’s Exhibit
Jude does not theorize. He prosecutes… using history as evidence. Israel witnessed miracles and still rebelled. Angels knew God directly and still fell. Sodom lived in abundance and still defied Him.
None of them lacked information according to Scripture.
They lacked submission.
God does not excuse rebellion because it arrives dressed as enlightenment. Judgment does not disappear because sin feels sophisticated.
Sin Is Not Trauma… It Is Defiance
One of the most corrosive lies Jude exposes is the claim that sin is merely a misunderstanding. That people disobey because they are emotionally damaged, uninformed, or unenlightened.
That lie collapses under Scripture.
Sin is not ignorance.
It is wilful resistance.
Israel knew better. The angels knew better. Sodom knew better. And the modern Church knows better too. The refusal to submit to God’s word is not a failure of knowledge. It is a refusal of authority.
Comfort Is the Church’s Favorite Drug
The modern Church does not fear God. It fears discomfort. It softens doctrine, avoids confrontation, and silences warnings to preserve attendance, reputation, and cultural standing.
That isn’t love.
It’s cowardice.
A Church that refuses to contend will eventually apologize for truth. And a Church that apologizes for truth will soon abandon it altogether.
Yes… There Are Enemies in the Church
Jude does not hesitate to say it.
Yes, there are enemies in the Church.
Some are wolves.
Some are hirelings.
Some are sincere… and sincerely destructive.
Intent does not neutralize damage. A false gospel preached gently is still a false gospel. And unity built on doctrinal surrender is not unity at all.
It’s collapse.
Contend… or Lose the Faith Entirely
“Earnestly contend.” That word means struggle. Fight. Defend. Guard. It does not mean endless dialogue. It does not mean silence for the sake of peace. It does not mean unity at any cost.
It means loyalty… to Christ, not comfort.
Bottom Line: Wake Up… or Be Overrun
The Church does not fall because the world attacks it.
It falls because it stops guarding the truth.
Jude’s warning has not aged. It has not softened. It has not expired. The faith does not need revision, rescue, or reinvention.
It needs defenders.
And if the Church refuses to defend it…
It will lose it.

The Devil created the church and all religions.
What if our ideas about faith, doctrine, worship and service came to a violent end, followed by new birth? The gospel message is about the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus/Yeshua; but it is also about our own death, burial and resurrection.
2 Corinthians 5:14-15 For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.
The Church thrives as we challenge the validity of our human endeavors at the Cross.
It dies if we don’t! Its time for a reset of the foundation.
Romans 8:12 -15 Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation—but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it. For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live. For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.
