Which U.S. States Search Most for “Personal Injury Lawyer”? New Study Reveals the Top 10
A new study has revealed which U.S. states are searching the most online for “personal injury lawyer” — and the findings highlight significant differences in legal demand across the country.
According to the research, Connecticut tops the list with an average of 1,145 searches per 100,000 residents — the highest rate in the United States. Louisiana follows closely in second with 1,136 searches per 100,000 residents, while South Carolina ranks third at 954.
At the other end of the scale, Hawaii reported just 81 searches per 100,000 residents, the lowest in the nation.
The study was conducted by CR Legal Team, a national personal injury law firm that analyzed Google Keyword Planner data from all 50 states. Researchers calculated average monthly search volumes per 100,000 residents to uncover where interest in personal injury legal support is highest.
Top States Searching for Personal Injury Lawyers
| Rank | State | Searches per 100,000 Residents |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Connecticut | 1,145 |
| 2 | Louisiana | 1,136 |
| 3 | South Carolina | 954 |
| 4 | Georgia | 852 |
| 5 | Missouri | 809 |
| 6 | Florida | 737 |
| 7 | Colorado | 711 |
| 8 | Nevada | 705 |
| 9 | Pennsylvania | 581 |
| 10 | North Carolina | 478 |
The Nation’s Legal Demand Hotspots
Researchers found that states leading the list show a much higher interest than the national average, which sits at around 390 searches per 100,000 residents.
-
Connecticut’s search rate is 193.6% above the national average, with a total of 42,440 searches among its 3.7 million residents.
-
Louisiana’s rate is 191.3% higher, totaling 52,340 searches across a population of 4.6 million.
-
South Carolina, ranking third, logged 53,159 searches among 5.5 million residents — 144.6% higher than the national figure.
The study suggests that these high search volumes may correlate with greater public awareness of legal rights, higher accident rates, or stronger local interest in pursuing compensation claims.
Expert Commentary
A spokesperson from CR Legal Team commented on the findings:
“The results show that residents in states like Connecticut, Louisiana, and South Carolina are actively seeking legal help after personal injuries. High search activity often reflects both legal need and accessibility — as well as awareness of the importance of legal representation after an accident.
These insights highlight the need for equitable access to qualified personal injury attorneys across all states, particularly in regions with growing demand.”
Why the Differences?
While the data doesn’t pinpoint exact causes, several factors may influence these patterns:
-
Traffic and workplace injury rates
-
State laws and compensation limits
-
Public awareness campaigns
-
Availability of legal representation
Interestingly, southern states such as Louisiana, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida dominate the top ten, suggesting that regional factors — including traffic density, insurance laws, and economic conditions — may contribute to higher legal search interest.
