What comes to your mind when you think of Vietnam? Lush green paddy fields, bustling cities, beautiful beaches or fertile river landscapes? You probably have the scent of the versatile Vietnamese cuisine in your nose. All this, together with the friendly smiles of the Vietnamese people, will make your vacation in the Southeast Asian country unforgettable! Let’s plan your trip to Vietnam together so that your dream can soon become a reality.

Relaxation of Entry Regulations in Vietnam

The new visa regulations in Vietnam have come into effect from August 15, 2023. The expansion of the e-visa options allows multiple entries and exits without new Vietnam visa applications. In addition, the e-visa will be extended to 90 days and visa-free entry in many countries to 45 days. The measures are intended to boost the growth of the tourism industry and economic development in Vietnam. It remains to be seen whether Vietnam can achieve the goals set for 2023 in terms of entry volume thanks to the new visa policy. Check out the official visa website Visagov for more information.

The Highlights of a Trip to Vietnam at a Glance:

Hanoi

The capital of Vietnam is also referred to as a cultural city, as the cityscape is characterized by numerous temples and historical buildings and the lively cultural scene is known nationwide. The Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is also located here. In the old town, the “quarter of the 36 streets” you can stroll, shop and try the local specialties.

Sapa

The Sapa region with the capital of the same name in the extreme north-west of Vietnam is famous for its impressive mountain landscape, which is mainly characterized by the rice fields. Guests are invited to trek through the rice terraces and learn about Hmong, Red Dao and Tay cultures. The members of the hill tribes often still wear their traditional costume, especially when visiting the large weekly markets.

Halong Bay

Emerald waters and thousands of towering limestone islands make Halong Bay in northern Vietnam a unique travel destination. A trip on a junk, a traditional sailing ship, is the best way to explore the bay. Those who like to be active on vacation can take a kayak tour through the numerous caves.

Hi An

The city of Hoi An is located on Vietnam’s central coast and is characterized by the well-preserved old town with numerous canals, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The turbulent history of the city is reflected in the streetscape: in addition to wooden temples, there are Chinese trading houses and buildings from the French colonial era. In the evening, the streets, canals and bridges are romantically illuminated. Many travelers bring colorful paper lanterns from Hoi An as they have been made here for many centuries. From Hoi An you can also take a trip to the nearby imperial city of Hue.

Saigon/Ho-Chi-Minh-Stadt

Saigon is Vietnam’s economic metropolis, a fast-moving, colorful city with numerous high-rise buildings, chic bars and an exciting nightlife. Some of the city’s buildings are reminiscent of French colonial times, Chinatown is home to a large Chinese population, and the colorful markets sell everything from fresh mangoes to shoelaces.

Mekong-Delta

The Mekong flows through six countries in Southeast Asia and flows into the sea in southern Vietnam in a huge delta. The delta is a maze of canals, islands, swamps and rice paddies that is best explored by boat. The fertile soil of the delta produces a variety of exotic fruits – you have to try them!

Best Travel Time for Vietnam

North Vietnam: In the north of the country subtropical, warm and humid weather prevails. From November to April, the average temperature is 16°C and it rarely rains. It can get cold in the mountain regions during this time. In the summer months, temperatures are significantly higher and rainfall can occur.

Central Vietnam: January to May offer comfortable temperatures and little rainfall. The summer months can get hot at times. Expect more rainy days from October to December.

Southern Vietnam: The climate in southern Vietnam is tropical, which means it is warmer than 20°C even in the winter months. Between May and October there are often heavy, short rain showers.
