Bad RINOs and Good RINOs: Many Republicans Act Like They Can't Tell the Difference
I didn’t get involved in politics other than voting until Bill Clinton became POTUS, but it wasn’t deeply until Obama became POTUS. I never really considered myself loyal to one political party or another even though I was usually registered as a Republican. In general elections I voted Republican in 1980 and1984. While I was a full time Union Representative, I gave into pressure and voted Democrat in 1988 but not in 1992. In 1996 and 2000 I voted Republican. In 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2016 I voted 3rd Party- the Constitution Party. Then I voted Republican again in 2020 and 2024.
Just in case someone doesn’t know, RINO is an acronym for Republican in Name Only. Technically (if there is such a thing) it simply means they don’t truly line up with the Republican platform- not true Republicans supposedly. Most citizens consider them more of a Democrat than a Republican. They could line up with fellow Republicans economically but with the Democrats on social issues. Most Republicans probably fall in RINO the category to one degree or another.
