According to statements from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), a severe military escalation occurred near the strategic Strait of Hormuz. The IRGC claimed it shot down an American MQ-9 Reaper drone over the Gulf region, later parading what it alleged to be the debris of the aircraft. Iranian forces stated they opened fire on an American RQ-4 Global Hawk drone and an F-35 fighter jet after they allegedly entered Iranian airspace, forcing both aircraft to turn back. The incident followed reports of explosions near Bandar Abbas and occurred amidst a highly fragile regional ceasefire, prompting the U.S. to carry out “self-defense strikes” in response.
Concurrently, the interview highlights Russia’s deployment of its highly advanced Oreshnik ballistic missile system against Ukraine. Russia launched a massive strike targeting Kyiv and surrounding areas using the Oreshnik missile, alongside a broader assault of nearly 100 missiles and 600 drones. Although Ukrainian intelligence detected launch preparations 24 hours in advance and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned the public, air defense systems were completely unable to intercept the Oreshnik hypersonic missile. The impact caused severe structural damage and multiple casualties across the capital region.
