Recent satellite imagery shows a “surge in construction,” including heavily reinforced concrete portals, added soil over tunnel entrances, and a transition toward internal facility hardening. Despite public warnings from President Trump against continuing development at the site, Iranian officials have publicly dismissed the threats, calling his nuclear positions a “bluff”. Because the facility is buried deep under solid granite, it is highly resilient against existing munitions. The Pentagon’s Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) recently issued emergency contracts to test next-generation penetrator weapons at granite test sites in White Sands, preparing for potential future operations if diplomacy completely breaks down.

Major Iranian nuclear infrastructure sites (such as Natanz and Fordo) suffered heavy damage in earlier US-Israeli military operations, and international watchdogs note that Iran has continued a limited nuclear rebuild while maintaining a stockpile of enriched uranium. Analysts note that completely destroying deeply buried mountain facilities remains a major military challenge.
