Brother Fighting a Brother: A Call for Unity Among Africans

The ongoing conflicts within the African continent, particularly exemplified by the actions of Dudula’s leader, Zandile Dabula, reveal a troubling trend of division and hatred among brothers and sisters. It is crucial to address these issues, starting with the leadership of such movements. Zandile Dabula, born in Zimbabwe and a mother of two children with a Zimbabwean man, raises questions about her commitment to South African unity. How can a leader who cannot identify their rural roots or grandparents genuinely advocate for South Africans?

Xenophobia has unfortunately found a foothold in South Africa, often among individuals who have their own complicated histories. Many of those who exhibit extreme xenophobic sentiments have backgrounds in Zimbabwe; some were granted citizenship by former President Mandela in the wake of the 1994 transition. My travels across various provinces in South Africa have shown me the true nature of its people. They are generally caring and loving, often going about their lives without malice.

The serious allegations against Zandile Dabula necessitate reflection. If she is indeed spreading hatred, it may stem from personal wounds inflicted by experiences with Zimbabwean partners. Such unhealed trauma often manifests in harmful ways, leading to actions that include blocking vulnerable refugees and undocumented individuals from accessing essential services like clinics and hospitals.

The so-called Dudula Savages, tasked with enforcing these barriers, raise troubling questions. Who funds their operations? There are suggestions of sponsorship from business elites and saboteurs who thrive on division and conflict among Africans, relishing the sight of their brothers and sisters suffering from poverty and violence.

It is essential to recognize that foreign nationals are not to blame for the myriad problems South Africa faces today. The COVID-19 pandemic severely disrupted employment opportunities and the economy, largely due to influences from broader globalist agendas. Issues like poverty, a lack of housing, and educational crises also have deeper roots than simply pointing fingers at immigrants or refugees.

Targeting the most vulnerable members of society is not only cruel but also counterproductive. Many foreigners have lost their lives due to violence, and in the process, countless South Africans have suffered as well. It is time to move beyond these cycles of blame and to foster forgiveness and unity among our peoples.

To pave a proper way forward, South Africa must focus on creating employment opportunities and enhancing social cohesion. This blame game does not lead to constructive outcomes for Africans.

Moreover, our legal system must take a firm stand against criminals. Implementing strict sentences for heinous acts like child rape and armed robbery can deter violence and attract foreign investment, ultimately benefiting the nation.

The lessons of history remind us that any kingdom fighting against itself is at risk of collapse. We must rally together, not just within South Africa, but across borders—from Zimbabwe to Nigeria—creating a united front.
