Iran launched coordinated missile strikes on central Israel in what Tehran called direct revenge for the killing of Ali Larijani, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council. Israeli authorities said Larijani was killed in overnight strikes on Tehran, though Iran had not confirmed the claim and Reuters reported his fate remained unclear. Two people, a couple in their 70s, were killed in Ramat Gan by shrapnel from either interception debris or cluster warhead fragments. MDA reported one had a disability that prevented them from reaching a shelter in time.
Eight shrapnel impact sites were reported, five in Ramat Gan. The Tel Aviv Savidor train station was damaged and services suspended. Unconfirmed reports said Iran fired Khorramshahr missiles with cluster warheads.
The IRGC designated the barrage as the 58th wave of Operation True Promise 4, dedicated to what it called the martyr children of the conflict. The Wall Street Journal reported that Iran has launched more than 290 missiles and more than 500 drones since the war began on February 28.
