That sounds reasonable until you actually think about what’s being asked. Because no one is stopping anyone from existing. So that’s not the issue. The issues is that you are being told that you have to participate in something you don’t believe is true. And if you don’t you’re labelled disrespectful and intolerant. So that’s not live and let live that’s compelled agreement, compelled speech, and there’s a big difference.

I don’t follow people around correcting them or interfering in their lives. But I also don’t owe anyone my language my beliefs or my perception of reality. So the moment you say, just call them what they want, what you are really saying is my boundaries don’t matter but your’s do. And that’s not tolerance, that’s one sided compliance. And people are now just waking up to that. Because respect goes both ways. Or it’s not respect at all.
