2024 & Beyond Creating Our Shared Future” Series June 26 Virtual Town Hall Focuses on LGBTQ+ Rights

Atlanta, GA June 20, 2024 – chromatic black™, Stop the Coup 2025, and Impulse Group Atlanta, along with other allies will host the fourth “2024 & Beyond Creating Our Shared Future” Virtual Town Hall – Unpacking Project 2025’s Impact on LGBTQ+ Rights” on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  The town hall addresses The Heritage Foundation’s Vision for America, Project 2025, to eliminate programs focusing on marriage equality, healthcare rights, as well as non-discrimination protections in education, in the workplace and in housing for LGBTQ + community.

“2024 & Beyond: Creating Our Shared Future”Town Hall – LGBTQ+ Rights urges the community to come together to advocate for smarter policies to protect same sex marriage, anti bulling legislation and civil rights for the LGBTQ+ community.  Jennifer Flynn Walker, co-director of campaigns for Center for Popular Democracy, will serve as the moderator, with perspective from the following panelists:

“Project 2025 labels any concern for LGBTQIA+ issues as a target of the culture wars against “wokeness,” conflating it with restrictions on free speech. The authors advocate for making American institutions “hard targets for woke culture warriors” by removing terms siuch as sexual orientation, gender identity (SOGI), diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), gender, gender equality, and reproductive rights from all federal regulations and legislation. This approach not only jeopardizes the rights of LGBTQIA+ individuals but also sets a dangerous precedent for silencing any group that does not align with a narrow, exclusionary vision of America. It is imperative that we stand firm against these attempts to roll back the progress we have made toward equality and inclusion,” said Anne-Christine d’Adesky, founder, Stop The Coup 2025.

Project 2025 and Its Implications  

Project 2025 will eliminate programs – marriage equality, fair housing, workplace equality, anti bullying legislation in the education system – to protect the LGBTQ+ community.  The LGBTQ+ community will lose vital legislation to prevent anti discrimination as it pertains to sexual orientation, gender identity, transgender status, and sex characteristics.

In addition, the Project 2025 blueprint will also reverse decades of progress for environmental / climate justice, women’s reproductive rights and civil servants.
