The Olivet Discourse: Jesus’ Secret Briefing About the End of the World

The Olivet Discourse is one of Jesus Christ’s most important teachings about the end times, given on the Mount of Olives—which is why it’s called the “Olivet” Discourse. It’s recorded in three of the four Gospels:

• Matthew 24–25
• Mark 13
• Luke 21

It started with a simple question.

As Jesus stood overlooking Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives, His disciples came to Him privately. The city glowed below them. The temple stood majestic and immovable. But Jesus had just shocked them all:

“There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.”
—Matthew 24:2 (KJV)

Their hearts raced. The temple destroyed? The end of the age?

So they asked Him—perhaps in whispers:

“Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?”
—Matthew 24:3 (KJV)

What followed was no ordinary teaching. It was a classified end-times briefing from the Son of God Himself.

And friend—you are meant to hear it.

The First Sign: DECEPTION

“Take heed that no man deceive you.”
—Matthew 24:4 (KJV)

Jesus didn’t start with war. He started with spiritual deception.

False messiahs. Religious manipulation. Twisted gospels. Many would come using His name, leading millions astray. And they wouldn’t look evil—they’d appear righteous, even loving. The deception would be that good.

Are you sure you’re following Jesus, or just a system using His name? Christ taught that deception would come to the earth. Have you been caught up personally in this deception that he foretold? I invite you to pray to God and ask Him this question…Have you been religiously deceived?

Global Chaos: WARS AND RUMORS

“Ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars…”

The headlines scream it already: invasions, nuclear threats, terrorist attacks, superpower tension. But Jesus said, don’t panic yet. These are just the beginning of sorrows—like birth pains, growing in intensity.

Then – famine, earthquakes, pestilence—“in divers places.”

It’s not just one disaster. It’s the pattern. Are you following the news? It’s one disaster after another throughout the world.

The Trigger Event: ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION

As I study the end-times, there is one key event that Jesus spoke of which would be so telling of His return. A new temple would be built in Israel. The antichrist would enter this temple, and reveal who truly was…SATAN himself and demanding the world worship him. This event Christ refers to as the Abomination of Desolation.

“When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation… stand in the holy place…”
—Matthew 24:15 (KJV)

This is the turning point. A desecration in the new temple built in Israel. A global outrage. The Antichrist revealing himself. Daniel foresaw it. Jesus confirmed it. When it happens, run. Don’t go back for anything.

This will usher in the Great Tribulation, a time of horror the world has never seen, the final 3.5 years before the coming of Jesus Christ.

Cosmic Signs: THE HEAVENS SHAKE

“The sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven…”

Imagine the sky collapsing into chaos. The natural order reversed. Fear gripping the hearts of men. And then—

“…shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven…”
—Matthew 24:30 (KJV)

He will come.

Not as a lamb.
Not as a teacher.
But as the King of Kings, in power and glory.

Every eye will see Him.

The Urgent Message: BE READY

“Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.”
—Matthew 24:42 (KJV)

This is not a story to entertain. It’s a warning. Jesus didn’t reveal this to scare you—but to prepare you.

He followed His prophecy with parables:

• Ten virgins—five were left behind.
• A master returning—was his servant ready?
• Sheep and goats—the judgment is real.

The question is not if Jesus is coming back.
The question is: Will you be ready when He does?

The Call

Don’t wait for one more sign.
Don’t get caught in religious confusion.
Don’t fall asleep.

Return to Christ. Cling to His Word. Abide in His grace.

The signs are flashing all around us—and they match exactly what He told us long ago, on that hillside above Jerusalem.

The Mount of Olives still stands.
The prophecy still speaks.
And the clock is still ticking.
