My Heart remains numb
A death is announced
a dreadful message to send.
An email arrives to an inbox
announcing tragic news,
sombre, factual, scant in detail
words describe a passing;
a priest has died,
his service comes to an untimely end.
A request was made to vacate a property.
An investiture of cruelty
Crushing the burden of frailty
As a life fades to memory
Too soon departing for the shores of eternity.
Open mouthed I am exhausted.
I can barely comprehend,
a eulogy speaks of love
spoken from a place of love,
tears soak a freezing cold day,
my heart remains numb
I am quite simply devastated.
