Video of the March: a call for peace, order, and respect answered with violence

Each and every time South African vigilante groups march, they attack and harass citizens from the Tsonga and Shangaan tribes. This is not an isolated incident. It is a pattern, and it is escalating.

Four people from Limpopo Province, including a 19-year-old Tsonga boy, have been murdered. These are not abstract statistics. They are sons, daughters, and neighbours whose lives were taken in the name of a vigilantism that answers to no law and no authority but its own.

In many areas, Tsonga people have been harassed and beaten. Some with small businesses have been forced to flee KwaZulu-Natal, abandoning homes and livelihoods built over years, simply because of where they come from and who they are.

Therefore, the Tsonga and Shangaan people are marching to demand respect of their rights, peace and order in South Africa. Their demand is simple and just: the right to live, to trade, and to raise their families without fear of the mob.

The issue of undocumented immigrants must be left in the hands of Police and Immigration, who are properly trained to respect human rights. This is not a task for vigilante groups roaming the streets and invading private homes.

The Rule of Law vs. The Rule of the Mob

South African Police is professional and does not kill or beat undocumented immigrants. It arrests them and has them sign papers recognising their rights. Where there are mistakes or lost documents, the Police verify the matter with the Immigration Department — a process that is professional and rooted in Ubuntu. The vigilante groups, by contrast, murder, harass, and loot small businesses and tuckshops without process, without mercy, and without accountability.

This conduct makes South Africa a Banana Republic in the eyes of the world — hated and condemned for what are, in truth, crimes against humanity. A nation built on the promise of Ubuntu cannot allow armed mobs to dispense justice with fists, fire, and looting.

Vigilantism, and the invasion of private houses in search of undocumented immigrants, must be stopped. The law belongs to the courts, the Police, and the Department of Home Affairs — not to any group that appoints itself judge, jury, and executioner.
