10 Signs America's Financial Collapse Is Already Here (Video)

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

In this 28 March 2026 video, host Michael Bordenaro talks about how the U.S. national debt is projected to reach $39 trillion by late March 2026. Net interest payments are expected to hit $1 trillion in fiscal year 2026, making them the fastest-growing part of the federal budget. By 2026, interest costs are projected to consume 19 cents of every dollar collected in federal taxes.

Borrowers are increasingly struggling to keep up with payments as credit costs rise. Delinquency rates for student and auto loans have climbed to their highest levels in nearly a decade. Seriously delinquent car loans are currently at a 15-year high.

Inflation remains stubbornly above the Federal Reserve’s 2 percent target, hovering around 2.7 to 3 percent in early 2026. Essential costs like utilities have jumped 2 percent since last year, with the average household now paying $265 per month. Grocery prices rose at an annual pace of roughly 5 percent in February 2026.

The U.S. has entered a “low-hire, low-fire” equilibrium where job growth has slowed significantly. Private-sector payroll growth averaged only 34,000 per month over the last six months, down from 85,000 in 2024. The unemployment rate has slowly crept upward to 4.4 percent as of early 2026.

The housing sector is facing a severe affordability crisis, with sales falling to rates not seen since the 2008 financial crisis. Existing home sales dropped 8.4 percent in early 2026, marking the steepest decline in nearly four years. Sellers are now outnumbering buyers at record rates due to high mortgage costs and prices. Market valuations are reaching historic extremes, leading to fears of an impending crash. The CAPE ratio—a measure of long-term growth—is currently near 40, a level only seen once before in 153 years, just before the 2000 market crash. There are growing concerns about an AI bubble potentially bursting as tech spending faces increased scrutiny.

Confidence in the U.S. dollar is faltering as its share of global reserves continues to trend downward. The dollar’s share of global reserves fell to approximately 56.3 percent at the end of 2025, down from 71 percent in 1999. The dollar lost roughly 10 percent of its value against major currencies over the past year.

Corporate credit worries are resurfacing as high interest rates take their toll. The corporate default rate has remained elevated since late 2023, with experts warning that more “cockroaches” (hidden financial failures) may emerge in 2026. Smaller regional banks remain a primary area of concern for potential liquidity crises.

Despite some resilient spending, “bad vibes” dominate the consumer outlook. Economic confidence reached its lowest level since 2015 in mid-2025 and remains low due to cost-of-living anxieties. About one-third of Americans believe their financial situation will worsen in 2026.

The federal budget deficit is large by historical standards and continues to widen. The deficit for fiscal year 2026 is projected at $1.9 trillion, or 5.8 percent of GDP, significantly higher than the 50-year average of 3.8 percent. Experts warn the U.S. is on a “dangerous” fiscal path with debt expected to reach 120 percent of GDP by 2036.
