He argues the longs who replaced the flushed-out weak hands are not ordinary speculators but parties friendly to the shorts, positioned to sell out to them when prices are finally allowed to rise. He also reads the managed money net long in silver, close to the lowest reading in twenty-five years, as the setup for a violent rally – and points to tens of thousands of December gold call contracts struck at fifteen and twenty thousand dollars, expiring on November the twenty-fourth.
