Ex-White House Staff Admit Several Pardons Signed by Autopen Without Biden’s Knowledge

Former White House staff members have come forward to reveal that multiple presidential pardons were signed with the autopen without then-President Joe Biden’s knowledge or consent.

A new report published Sunday by The New York Times has confirmed what many conservatives long suspected: key presidential actions in the final weeks of Joe Biden’s presidency were executed using an autopen, and in some cases, without Biden’s final approval.

The article, titled “Biden Says He Made the Clemency Decisions That Were Recorded With Autopen,” attempts to shield Biden from growing scrutiny over allegations that he was not in control of his own administration.

But even within its carefully crafted narrative, The Times reveals significant red flags about the process behind the controversial pardons.

In a brief phone interview, Biden told the paper, “I made every decision.”

Biden also claimed that he authorized the use of the autopen, a machine that replicates his signature, because “we’re talking about a whole lot of people.”

But the deeper story is buried further in the article.

According to The Times, Biden “did not individually approve each name for the categorical pardons that applied to large numbers of people.”

Instead, Biden only approved “the standards” that would be used to determine which convicts qualified for commutations or pardons.

That revelation undermines the White House’s claim that Biden was actively involved in every decision.

It also plays directly into concerns raised by President Donald Trump and his allies that Biden was unfit to carry out his constitutional duties.

The report says internal emails show that White House staff managed the process under which clemency records were routed through the autopen after Biden’s general preferences were discussed, often without his review of final versions.

One senior aide reportedly justified the move by noting that “small changes to the list” kept happening, and rather than bother the president with each one, staff opted to wait and run the final list through the autopen.

According to the timeline outlined by The Times, on the evening of January 19, Biden’s final night in office, aides continued refining the list of pardons until at least 10:28 p.m.

Just three minutes later, Biden’s Chief of Staff Jeff Zients responded via email:

“I approve the use of the autopen for the execution of all of the following pardons.”

In other words, it wasn’t Biden himself who authorized the use of the autopen on final clemency documents; it was his staff.

The Times admits that no physical evidence exists proving Biden personally approved the last-minute pardons.

Instead, the only source cited to claim Biden was involved is an email from White House counsel Ed Siskel stating:

“The president makes the final decision on the final pardon and/or commutation slate.”

The email is presented as conclusive, despite offering no documentation of Biden’s direct review or final sign-off.

The entire justification for Biden’s involvement hinges on verbal claims and secondhand emails sent by subordinates.

Adding fuel to the fire, Fox News reported weeks ago that then-head of Biden’s Domestic Policy Council Neera Tanden told House Oversight Committee members she had approved the use of autopen signatures on key documents, despite not knowing who had actually made the final decisions.

Tanden also admitted she rarely interacted with Biden directly.

This latest episode is yet another blow to the Democrats’ carefully controlled narrative about the Biden White House.

For years, critics have warned that Biden’s staff was quietly running the show while the president served as little more than a figurehead.

The use of the autopen in issuing mass pardons, without documented evidence of Biden’s direct involvement, will only intensify questions about who was truly in charge during the former president’s final months in office.

While the legacy media rushes to deflect attention and reassure the public, one truth is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore: the American people deserve to know who was actually signing off on decisions from the Oval Office and whether the president himself was even aware.
