While downtown Vancouver might seem like an unlikely place for a farm, Cadillac Fairview, in partnership with MicroHabitat, have created two urban farms at office buildings downtown featuring over 30 growing pods and 60 different types of plants.

“Over the course of the summer months, Microhabitat pop-ups brought urban farming right into office lobbies, offering fresh produce from the urban rooftop farms and educating building occupants about sustainable practices,” says Jesse Gregson, vice-president of operations at Cadillac Fairview.
These urban farms are part of Green at Work, Cadillac Fairview’s national sustainability program, which aims to emphasize the connection between health and sustainability. Since 2017, Gregson says the program has led to a 21 per cent absolute reduction in scope 1 and 2 emissions and has earned the company a number of environmental certifications across their portfolio of properties.
