These talks arrive as Eastern Market Corporation pushes forward with expanded food access programs, backed by new grant funding and mobile markets rolling out to neighborhoods.
Eastern Market Corporation distributed three $50,000 grants to farm cooperatives. Six individual farms that serve the public received $15,000 grants through a new urban agriculture program. Program offerings will continue through the end of 2026, with services differing by vendor.
The farm stand program that delivered produce to 12 community markets over recent years is shifting gears. It will become a mobile market through a partnership with Wayne County. This mobile market will bring fresh produce to all 43 municipalities throughout the county.
