In this 8 May 2026 published video, host Dr. John Campbell talks about the Hantavirus outbreak which happened on the MV Hondius, a cruise ship with 148 passengers. There have been three deaths, three confirmed infections, and two suspected infections. At least 29 passengers (12 nationalities) left the MV Hondus cruise ship on 24 April 2026 after the first fatally. This occurred because the health authorities did not confirm a hantavirus infection.until 2 May 2026.
These possibly infected passengers with Hantavirus who left the cruise ship are from many parts of the United States (Georgia, California, Arizona) and world (Australia, Tiawan, Canada, Germany, Netherlands, United Kingdom, Spain).
There are two 2 Brits self-isolating at home for 45 days. There is one woman, a KLM stewardess (non-passenger) in Netherlands who is symptomatic who is in an isolation ward at an Amsterdam hospital.
As of May 8, 2026, the MV Hondius is sailing toward Spain’s Canary Islands, specifically aiming for the port of Granadilla in Tenerife, where it is scheduled to arrive this weekend. It will be allowed to drop anchor (not docked) in Tenerife and the passengers and crew will stay onboard, with each of the passengers confined to their small rooms
The MV Hondius took on four new medical staff members, including two infectious disease physicians from the Netherlands, to manage this deadly hantavirus outbreak. These specialists were dispatched by operator Oceanwide Expeditions to remain onboard and monitor the remaining passengers and crew as the vessel travels toward the Canary Islands.
A though seach of the cruise ship did not local any rats on board. It is thought the rats were encountered ny passengers during a shore trip in Argentina.
