Demand Salary Hike, Compassionate Jobs, Staff Regularisation

Proddatur – Andhra Pradesh: Municipal, APCAS and COVID workers in Proddatur on Tuesday submitted memorandums to MLA N Varadarajula Reddy and the District Collector, urging immediate action on long-pending demands including unpaid salaries, compassionate appointments, regularisation and staff shortages.

MLA assures to raise issues in Assembly

As part of a statewide outreach, workers met MLA N. Varadarajula Reddy and appealed to him to raise their concerns in the Assembly. After hearing their grievances, the MLA assured that he would take up the matter in the appropriate forum.

Petitions submitted to Collector during visit

During the District Collector’s visit to Proddatur Municipality, worker representatives submitted a detailed petition highlighting issues concerning municipal, APCAS and COVID workers and seeking administrative intervention.

Compassionate appointments sought

The delegation requested jobs for one eligible family member of deceased APCAS workers under compassionate grounds. Similar appeals were made for families of workers retired after 60 years and for those unable to continue duties due to illness.

Rs 18,000 salary demand for 95 COVID workers

Workers stated that 95 COVID staff have been working for six years without regular salary. They urged authorities to implement a previously passed resolution fixing Rs 18,000 as monthly pay and to merge COVID workers into APCAS.

Staff shortage in municipality

Highlighting workforce shortages in Poddutur Municipality, workers demanded filling vacancies and transferring additional workers to ensure smooth civic administration. Union leaders participated in the programme.
