CITU Stages Relay Hunger Strike In Proddatur Demanding Reinstatement Of Worker

Andhra Pradesh: Leaders and members of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) staged a relay hunger strike in front of the Proddatur Municipal office on Monday, demanding the reinstatement of worker B Venkateshwarlu. The protest, organized following earlier notices served to the Municipal Commissioner, witnessed participation from union leaders and activists who expressed solidarity with the aggrieved worker.

Relay hunger strike held outside municipal office

As part of the protest programme, CITU leaders G Gangadhar Reddy (President) and P Shivaprasad (Treasurer) participated in the relay hunger strike to support B Venkateshwarlu.

The hunger strike was organized outside the Municipal Office and is scheduled to continue daily from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm until the issue is resolved.

Memorandum submitted at Collectorate Grievance Cell

Meanwhile, a delegation comprising district-level leaders along with B Venkateshwarlu visited the grievance cell at the Kadapa District Collectorate and submitted a memorandum.

In the representation, the delegation urged authorities to take immediate steps to reinstate Venkateshwarlu to his duties.

Union leaders extend support

The programme was attended by several leaders of the CITU union, including B Manohar, District General Secretary; Korrapati Satyanarayana, Secretary; Vijayakumar, Proddatur Town Secretary.

Various leaders and members from the Kadapa CITU union also participated in the protest, expressing their support for the demand.

Protest concludes for the day

The relay hunger strike concluded at 5:00 pm when union leader Korrapati Satyanarayana offered buttermilk to the participants, formally ending the day’s protest.

Those present at the protest included Gangadhar Reddy, Bhaskar, Shivaprasad, Joshua, Venkateshwarlu, Hari, Vijayakumar, Solomon, Olamma, Nagamani, and several other union members.
