Extreme Cold Warning with snow on the way in New York and New Jersey
An Extreme Cold Warning has been issued for New York and New Jersey ahead of subzero temperatures and snow forecasted for the weekend.
The Extreme Cold Warning will be in effect from 10 a.m. Saturday through 1 p.m. Sunday, along with a wind advisory from 9 a.m. Saturday through midnight Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.
Temperatures are expected to fall as low as 12 degrees on Saturday with wind chill values between -10 and zero and wind gusts as high as 48 mph, forecasters said. Overnight hours will be even more dangerously cold with wind chills between -20 to -25.
Amid the extreme cold, snow is also forecast to begin Friday night and last through midday Saturday.
