France: Memorial Garden Vandalized in Paris
Hat tip Francois Desouche
Sometime during the hours between last Tuesday night-early Wednesday morning, some people committed a vile act in Paris. In a public garden behind City Hall, they knocked over lanterns and scattered a large quantity of waste paper on the ground. In terms of damage, it was minimal, but what makes this particularly outrageous is that the garden was dedicated last November 13th to the victims of the horrific terrorist attacks in Paris on November 13, 2015 when Islamic terrorists, representing the Islamic State (ISIS) carried out attacks on multiple locations in and around Paris, including the Bataclan nightclub, attacks that killed 130 people.
And somebody desecrated a memorial to the victims.
Of course, I must state that, at this point, we do not know the identity of the perpetrators, and I will not assign blame until somebody is arrested. Let me just say that it is a pity that there are people in France who would carry out this act. Of course, the damage is minimal, but the symbolism of the act is much greater.

The garden was inaugurated on November 13, 2025, 10 years after the attacks in Paris and Saint-Denis.
Five months after its inauguration, the Memorial Garden dedicated to the victims of November 13 was vandalized. during the late night-early morning hours between Tuesday and Wednesday. This garden, inaugurated 10 years to the day after the attacks in Paris and Saint-Denis, was the target of several people. According to our information, a dozen lanterns were overturned, and a large quantity of waste paper was scattered on the ground.
On X, the mayor of the 11th Arrondissement, David Belliard (Green Party) was the first to react: “Shame on those who vandalized the memorial to the victims of the 2015 attacks on Saint-Gervais Square last night. And thank you to the city services for the repairs quickly done,” he posted mid-day.
A (criminal) complaint will be filed
“We are going to file a complaint as we regularly do when there is vandalism in public space or on the monuments, and the police prefecture will be able to examine the video surveillance images,” indicated the mayor of Paris Central, Ariel Weil (PS).
The City of Paris announced its intention to file a complaint. “The City strongly condemns these (acts of) vandalism, even more serious in that they were committed in a place dedicated to peace and remembrance, open to all, day and night. The City hopes that the perpetrator(s) of these acts will be fully identified,” she stated.
