Long Island, New York: Shi’ite Muslim cleric says Khamenei is ‘the greatest martyr in our era’

The U.S., particularly during the Obama and Biden years, opened the floodgates to an astonishing number of people who hate this country and love its enemies. How long can this nation endure the presence within it of people who long for its destruction? The Ayatollah Khamenei regularly repeated “Death to America,” and emphasized that it was not just a slogan, but the policy and goal of the entire regime. At very least, Jawad Wahedi should be monitored and investigated, so as to ensure that he is not engaging in subversive or jihad activity. But Wahedi almost certainly hasn’t come to the attention of any law enforcement agencies. They don’t want to appear “Islamophobic.”

Texas Shi’ite scholar Jawad Wahedi spoke at a 40th-day memorial for Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei at the Shah-e-Najaf Islamic Center in Brentwood, New York, on April 10, 2026. A representative of the mosque shared a quote by Khamenei about martyrdom, standing near an empty chair with a black turban and a photo of Khamenei and Islamic Revolution leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. Wahedi said that Khamenei was the greatest martyr of this era, adding that his martyrdom served Islam more than his life did, and that the blood of martyrs can achieve greater things than their lives. He said that while Shiites have lost their marja, or religious authority, they have a new leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, who will be “just like his father, in some sense even better, inshallah.”

Wahedi is the resident scholar at the Metroplex Organization of Muslims in North Texas (MOMIN) in Dallas. The memorial was streamed live on the Shah-e-Najaf Islamic Center’s official YouTube channel, but it was taken down on April 12 and no longer appears on the Long Island mosque’s channel….

Jawad Wahedi: “This great martyr [Khamenei] is indeed, without a doubt, one of the greatest martyrs, and without a shred of doubt, he is the greatest martyr in our era. Not only his life gave fruits and guidance, and served the cause of Islam, but his martyrdom also served Islam….

“We lost a great martyr, brothers and sisters. We mourn, and this U.S. government and this Israeli regime committed the worst crime that they have committed, the worst crime – an attack, an assassination, a terrorist attack against a marja [religious authority].

“A marja’ in the [Shi’ite] school of the Ahl al-Bayt is what? A marja in the school of the Ahl al-Bayt is the representative of the Hidden Imam. The Shi’ites are mourning a leader, someone who lost his life for the children of Palestine, subhanallah.

“We lost a great martyr, but alhamdulillah we have Ayatollah Sayyid Mojtaba Khamenei. You will see his leadership, inshallah. He will be just like his father, in some sense even better, inshallah.”
